From July 20th to 21st, Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee and Mayor, visited Wuhan during the "China Carbon Market Conference 2024·Wuhan". He inspected the development of Hubei's optoelectronic information industry, carbon market construction, and the cultivation of strategic technological capabilities. Wang Zhonglin, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor, accompanied him during the visit.
Gong Zheng and his delegation visited HGTech, China Electronics Information Corporation, China Carbon Emission Rights Registration and Settlement Center, and Hanjiang Laboratory. He highly praised Hubei's practices in leading industrial innovation through scientific innovation, creating a world-class optoelectronic information industry cluster, and promoting energy conservation and emission reduction through market mechanisms to support the construction of the national carbon market. Wang Zhonglin introduced breakthroughs in Hubei's optoelectronic information industry, progress in carbon emission trading, and efforts in constructing major scientific and technological platforms. He proposed suggestions for leveraging comparative advantages, enhancing collaborative innovation and industrial cooperation, accelerating the cultivation of new productive forces, and jointly promoting the construction of the national carbon market to achieve carbon peak and neutrality goals.
During the exchange, officials from both regions emphasized the strong industrial complementarity and high integration between Hubei and Shanghai, highlighting broad prospects for cooperation. They pledged to deeply study and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party and President Xi Jinping's important speeches on the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. They aimed to leverage abundant scientific and educational resources in both regions, strengthen collaboration on critical core technologies, enhance original innovation capabilities in frontier scientific fields, and better serve high-level technological self-reliance. They agreed to deepen cooperation in key areas such as optoelectronic information, new energy and smart connected vehicles, integrated circuits, and high-end equipment manufacturing, promoting industrial intelligence, greenization, and integration. They also discussed enhancing exchanges on deep integration of digital economy with the real economy and digital empowerment in governance of mega-cities to promote high-quality development of the digital economy.
Furthermore, they agreed to deepen cooperation in the "dual carbon" field, jointly promoting the construction of a unified national carbon market, enhancing international influence, leading comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development, and jointly promoting the development of a modern industrial system around the Yangtze River Economic Belt. They committed to efforts to create a golden waterway along the Yangtze River, deepen reforms, expand opening up, strengthen regional coordination, and jointly promote high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt to better support and serve China's modernization.
In the afternoon of July 20th, Gong Zheng and his delegation visited HGTech's Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park in the Future City Park. They toured the laser exhibition hall and high-end equipment manufacturing workshop. Ma Xinqiang, Party Secretary, Chairman, and CEO of HGTech, briefed them on the company's core business, innovation achievements, and development. He highlighted HGTech's laser equipment applications in automotive, telecommunications, high-precision manufacturing, and national large-scale equipment, showcasing their core technological breakthroughs. Ma Xinqiang noted that the Yangtze River Delta region centered on Shanghai is a strategic market for HGTech. Currently, the company has signed strategic cooperation agreements with notable enterprises like Zhenhua Heavy Industries, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, and Baochu Electronics, advancing strategies for high-end, intelligent, and green manufacturing development. He emphasized ongoing collaborations in laser processing technology applications, domestic equipment localization, and establishment of subsidiaries in Shanghai to enter the new environmental protection decoration materials industry, serving customers in home appliances, automotive, and other sectors. Looking ahead, HGTech plans to continue leveraging Shanghai's high-quality scientific and technological resources to contribute jointly to the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
