Russia's World Cup ends, while a university student's "World Cup" opens– On July 13th, the 2018 "HGTECH" world elite university football tournament opened in the HUST Optics Valley Stadium. From 13th to 22nd, 12 world-renowned university football teams, including Cambridge, Oxford and Tsinghua, will compete at Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
This year's 12 teams include 9 foreign university teams and 3 Chinese university teams. They are Cambridge University and Oxford University in the UK, The University of Melbourne in Australia, Polytechnic University of Turin in Italy, Leiden University in the Netherlands, Eberhard-Karls-Universitaet Tuebingen in Germany, University of Southern California in the United States, National University of Singapore, Seoul National University in Korea, and Tsinghua University, South China University of Technology and Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China.
At the opening ceremony, Ma Xinqiang, president of HGTECH, said that he hoped to take this event as an opportunity to inject the energy of HGTECH into the process of building Wuhan into a university city, a youth city, a city of dreams and a city of innovation, and to learn from and achieve win-win benefits with elites from universities, businesses and all circles of the society, so as to push the hi-tech industry forward.
